Seeing Without Eyes - The Story
Seeing without eyes sounds impossible, yet people around the world have been exploring it for decades. Here is how the field developed and where MatrixVision® comes in.
Early observations
Reports of people perceiving colours, shapes or text while their eyes were fully covered go back more than a century. For a long time they remained isolated demonstrations, often dismissed as tricks and rarely studied systematically.
From curiosity to structured training
In the second half of the 20th century, researchers and teachers began to develop methods that aimed to teach this ability in a reproducible way. One of the most influential was InfoVision, created by Russian scientist Mark Komissarov, who dedicated more than 25 years to researching and teaching perception beyond the physical eyes. His work introduced the phenomenon to an international audience and showed that children and adults can learn it through training.
The next step: MatrixVision®
MatrixVision® builds on this foundation. It was developed by a direct student and licensed instructor of the InfoVision method, who also trained in other established systems such as NOVA and the Bronnikov method. MatrixVision® combines these insights with findings from neuroscience, perceptual psychology and cognitive training, and adds the REPRO® Method to address the inner beliefs and resistance that often block progress.
Why it matters
The aim is a structured, testable training path with clear stages and honest verification of results. It opens new possibilities for curious learners and offers a perspective on spatial awareness and orientation for people who are blind or visually impaired.
